Sage Tidbit #18: Election Results & Cultivating Authentic Communities of Care

A tidbit is a small morsel…. of inspiration, insights, or lessons learned/tips to reflect on, and digest, over your week.

Here, in the United States, many of us are digesting the results of the Presidential Election. Some people are celebrating and excited about the future and some are scared or terrified about the future. Regardless of where you are, it is important, now more than ever, to build bridges and seek to understand the other person’s point of view. It is a complex time where we need to create more unity, even though we have very different perspectives.

As a leader, your role in setting the tone is more important than ever. How you show up matters. How you demonstrate care and compassion matters. How you invite people in, so they feel that they are accepted and belong, matters. Community matters.

Reflection Questions:

  • How are you creating an authentic culture of true caring?

  • How do you show up, be present and listen deeply?

  • How can you cultivate curiosity and understanding in yourself and others, especially when they may see and experience the world so differently than you, or the majority in the room?
