Once I got clear the message to me was that I was doing too much and too much at once, then I asked myself – Now What? Where do I go from here?
An obvious question. The initial answer was to take care of my concussion and physically heal. This not only required a lot of rest and little-to-no electronics, but also a massive rethinking of the work I was doing – what really needed to get done and why?
In assessing my choices, if I can only do SOMEthing, what are the few things I can or must do? Physically it started with the things I needed to do to survive and heal, like rest, eat well and stay off electronics. Business-wise, it started with reprioritizing – stop doing anything unnecessary in the short run, delegate where I could, and engage in a different kind of longer-term planning. I didn’t really know how long I would be limited.
When you rethink where a happening fits in your life and why it happened, do you ever stop and ask yourself, Now What? What are the implications for who I am or how I move forward thinking about this differently?
